How to identify the quality of Kancheevaram saree?

Kancheevaram sarees are one of the most popular saris in the world. These saris are known for their soft texture and exquisite handwork. They are also known for their durability.

Kancheevaram sarees are not like any other saris. These saris are made with pure silk. The pure silk used in these saris is handpicked. The handpicked silk is then used to make these saris.

The saris are woven in a specific manner. Since they are hand woven, no two saris are the same.

The saree is very strong and can last for years with proper maintenance. But it will shrink with each wash and lose its shine over time.

The silk sarees of the past were made from a single piece of silk, but today most kanchivaram sarees are made from two pieces of silk sewn together. The top is called the pallu and the bottom is called the body.

The body of a kanchivaram saree can be made of a single piece of silk, a double piece of silk, a cotton or a mixture of silk and cotton.

The pallu is always a single piece of silk. The body of a kancheevaram saree is usually made from a lighter silk than the pallu to give the pallu a floating appearance.

The body silk is often made from a fine silk such as tussar silk and the pallu silk is usually made from a heavier silk such as tara silk. The pallu silk is usually more expensive than the body silk.

What can happen if you don’t clean your sarees in time?

The best way to know if your kancheevaram saree needs cleaning is to check the condition of the pallu. If the pallu looks worn out and discolored, chances are your sari needs to be cleaned.

When you wear a kancheevaram saree, the pallu gets a lot of wear and tear. In fact, it is often the first thing people see when they look at a lady in a kancheevaram saree. Naturally, the pallu is going to get dirty.

Sometimes, you can take a little care and avoid a lot of trouble. For example, if you take a little care with your pallu, it will last longer and look much better after a trip to the cleaners.

There are a couple of things you can do to extend the life of your pallu. First, you should never wear a sari with a heavy pallu for a long period of time. If you wear a sari for a long time, the pallu will get heavy and fall apart much faster.

Second, you should never wear a sari with a heavy pallu in a hot, humid environment. If you wear a saree with a heavy pallu in a hot, humid environment, the pallu will fall apart faster than if you were to wear it in a more moderate climate.

If you get any sweat stains, or other stains, then its best to get is professionally cleaned at the earliest to limit the damage to the saree.

How to clean a kancheevaram saree?

Now that the wedding season is over, you might be wondering how to keep your silk saree in tiptop condition. Before you put it away for the next occasion, I’ll walk you through the steps to clean your kancheevaram saree.

You will have questions on how to wash it, how to dry-clean it, if you could iron it or if it could be starched.

Whenever you want to clean your silk saree, you can do it by saree rolling. By rolling your saree tightly, you can remove the dirt and stains, and you can make your silk saree look like new. You can also dry clean your silk saree, but since dry cleaning makes your silk saree shrink, you should use this method only when you’re in an emergency.

Saree rolling helps you to remove the dirt and oil from your silk saree so that you can use it for the next occasion. When you roll the saree, it helps to remove the dirt and oil from the creases and so, it makes your silk saree look as if it is new. You can use our saree rolling services as well if you think that it is difficult to do by yourself.

Dry cleaning is a method of cleaning clothes by exposing them to a chemical solvent rather than to water. Dry cleaning methods remove dirt and other soils from fabrics by dissolving them in a solvent, without wetting the fabric, and then evaporating the solvent from the cleaned fabric. Dry cleaning is used for cleaning fabrics that are susceptible to damage from water and other cleaning methods.

How to store a kancheevaram saree?

Kancheevaram sarees, especially those with zari borders, can easily be damaged by moths and other insects and by sunlight. So, unless you want your precious kancheevaram sarees to turn into useless rags, you must store them properly.

Over the years when I have bought sarees, I have received the same piece of advice from salespeople when I was buying sarees. They would tell me to keep the sari in a cotton cloth bag, with the ends tied up in a knot. And when I was not wearing the saree, it had to be kept in a drawer in my room, not hung in the wardrobe, but rolled in the cloth bag.

  • Air the sari as much as possible after every use and dry clean followed by a roller iron to restore the folds.
  • Store it in a cotton cloth.
  • The saree should be stored in a place where there is adequate ventilation.
  • If you are storing the saree for a long time, ensure that it doesn’t get too hot or too cold.
  • There are many types of kancheepuram sarees. Some of them are hand block printed, some are un block printed, some are silk and cotton mix. The best way to store them is to roll them up.
  •  If you want to store them for longer than a few months, you can store them in an air tight box. This way, they will last for many years.

Conclusion

Kancheevaram sarees are a timeless choice. They come with a set of unique challenges that you need to know how to manage best.
